The House on East 88th Street

Every library should have in its collection the quintessential NYC storybook about lovable Lyle the Crocodile and the Primm family with whom he lives. To quote the New York Times: "Ordinarily I don't like crocodiles. They're reptilian and slithery and bumpety all over...But I like Lyle. He's of a different stripe-- urbane, cosmopolitan, one of the family, a charmer." Written in 1962, the story is timeless.
